My son has just got into Pokemon trading cards in a big way and as I’m always sewing things for my daughter I thought this time I’d make him something. As he’s always carrying around his Pokemon cards I decided he needed something to put them in! I found some red, black and white felt and made this deck case. He now wants me to make lots more so he can trade them with his friends to get some good cards. Here’s what to do…
I am slightly obsessed with bags and I love being able to design and make a bag that does just the job I want it to do. This easy to sew Tote bag is the perfect size for a lunch box, water bottle, journal (or ipad) and an umbrella for those frequent rainy days! You can play around and make it with your favourite fabrics – I fell for the cute Instamatic cameras on this fabric, hence the name of the bag!
What you need:
- 1m fabric for lining and side panels
- 1 fat quarter fabric for main panels
- 1m interfacing (if you want a stiffer bag use a thicker interfacing)
- 140 cm coordinating bias binding
What to do:

Despite being busy with a few other things at the moment, I’ve managed to put together the first in what may or may not become a series (!) of Quick Makes – Pirate Tic Tac Toe or Noughts and Crosses. I made this for a ‘Quiet Book’ but you could easily make a bigger pouch and fold the board up as well; great for taking in the car or to restaurants and keeping kids/ grown-ups entertained. Happy making!
I always like making things for party favours for my children’s parties. This year I decided to make sleeping bags for 6″ Beanie Boos (as it was a Beanie Boo themed party – more on that later). They are quick and easy to make and would easily work with cotton instead of plush. My daughter loves plush so she had one made out of just plush. The heart pillow gives your Beanie Boo a nice comfy place to rest their head for the night!
This neck pillow is a quick and easy make. Pugs are my daughter’s favourite dog breed and I have to agree – they can be pretty cute. She also loves plush fabric, so I chose a nice soft cream plush for Pugly. The felt features are just cut out and sewn on by machine. Continue reading
